Three years ago I hopped in a car to drive from Minneapolis to Denver to start my job at 9News, the same place I had interned at 8 years earlier. These last few years I’ve met the most incredible people while working at 9News, my colleagues quickly became some of my best friends and lifelines as I went through a lot of life changes. I also got to check off some pretty cool career bucket list items.
In those three years I got to immerse myself in the fabulous Denver restaurant community, getting to know and share the stories behind the food the we love. I fulfilled a lifelong dream when I started the “Unpretentious Theater Review” with my fellow former-theater kid, Liz Kotalik. Not many people get a chance to work on a show with their best friends and I had it over and over again: Steve Staeger, Liz Kotalik, Alli Levigne and most recently, Anusha Roy & Jordan Chavez – How lucky am I? I also got to work with a weather team I’d admired and looked up to for years. When I showed up to work in tears after a breakup, Kathy Sabine was the first to wrap me in a hug and consistently make sure I had snacks, treats and wine to mend my broken heart.
I also got to know and love a community beyond the walls of the station. I’m still in awe every time someone tags me in a hike that they tried after I shared it and love every single picture I’m tagged in! Every single one of your dogs and babies in snow pictures has made me smile – please keep those coming, I love watching your kiddos grow up! I had no idea that speaking out about my mental health would spark the response it did, almost every day I have messages from people sharing their own stories. The ones that hit my heart the most are the parents who are learning to understand what their kids are going through. You guys are incredible.
My last day at 9news will be April 9th and that comes with a lot of emotions but mostly gratitude and excitement for what’s to come! I’ll be back on your TV’s by the end of the month, just on a different station and for a lot longer every day – it’s my dream job and I promise to share more details as soon as I can.
Other than the channel, not much will be changing! I’ll still be sharing my hikes and adventures, still be out at happy hour most nights!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your wonderful notes – I promise I’m trying to respond to every one as soon as I can!
When I'm not exploring the trails, I'm a Meteorologist! You can see me weekend mornings on NBC affiliate 9News in Colorado. Have a weather question? Don’t hesitate to ask!

Photo by Dave PuenteThese last few weeks have been rough. And of course, that’s coming from a place of absolute privilege because feeling cooped up, claustrophobic, overwhelmed, frustrated, lonely are the feelings in the best case scenario. Every day I’m grateful...
I can be a total Colorado snob when it comes to hiking, but sometimes it’s nice to mix things up and I’m so glad I made the 5 hour trek up to the Black Hills in South Dakota! Thank you to my dear friend, Jennifer who suggested this safe, socially distanced road...
My Little Edible Balcony Garden I have always talked about having an herb & vegetable garden, but I’ve also exclusively lived in apartments for the last decade so it hasn’t been much of an option. I’d look up cute ideas to have a balcony garden, but never...
