The Waihe’e Ridge Trail is now officially in my top three of favorite hikes! It’s steep – just over two miles to the top and you’re going up 1500 feet in elevation gain but I promise it’s so worth it. Gates open at 7am for this trail and get there early so you can avoid the overflow parking. It starts off fairly shaded making your way through trees and a ton of diverse vegetation. Then you get to the sweeping views and once that starts – they don’t stop until you’re at the top. I kept stopping to take pictures because I felt like it got more beautiful with every step.
When we made it to the top we were solidly in a cloud, but just two minutes later the wind picked up and the sky started to clear and all of a sudden we could see the entire valley, the ocean – it was truly incredible. If you do one hike on Maui this is it, it’s absolutely worth it and I already can’t wait to go back.
