I love this trail! It’s challenging but not too hard, has incredible views of both Eldorado Canyon and the Continental Divide and you can make it longer or shorter depending on what you’re in the mood for. To start at the Rattlesnake Gulch Trailhead to the Continental Divide Overlook it’s about 1.4 miles so you could make this an out & back for less than three miles. We added the loop which brought us to 3.7 miles. If you wanted to start at the Fowler Trailhead you could make it closer to 7 miles. You’re going up the whole time but it’s worth it for the views at the top!
Quick note: Eldorado Canyon State Park does require timed entry permits for cars. We didn’t have a problem getting a reservation on a Saturday but also saw plenty of people park outside the park and walk in ($4 for an individual entry, $10 for cars.)
It’s dog friendly! So many State Parks don’t allow pups but you’re good to go on this trail.
