Dog friendly trails in Estes Park can be hard to come by since dogs aren’t allowed in Rocky Mountain National Park so Kruger Rock is a great option for pup-loving families! Plus, the views on this hike are totally worth the climb for dogs and humans alike.
My first note is that the AllTrails map brings you to a parking lot that’s about ¼ mile away from the start of the trail and it took us a minute and a few minutes of walking in wrong directions before we finally found the start to the trail. I’m linking my map at the bottom to the correct lot, so use that in order to get to the right trailhead!
This hike was great, never too difficult but there were definitely a few steeper parts where we were breathing heavy, especially at the end. For the most park you’re hiking through trees but then the trees clear and you get the most incredible view.

The last push to the top is definitely pretty steep, then it’s worth it for the views! If you wanted to make the hike a bit shorter, more approachable you could totally turn around after the first viewpoint about a mile in.
We also found a new favorite local brewery, Rock Cut Brewing so brought a few beers to the summit and it was the perfect way to celebrate the climb and the views!
