Hidden Valley Trail is a stunning hike just a few miles past downtown Moab and I always love when the name of the hike tells you exactly what to expect: a hidden valley! The first 3/4 of a mile is definitely a bit of a tough climb, straight up the rocky side of the cliffs but once you get beyond the steep part, it’s an incredible open valley that’s mostly flat.
Alltrails has this hike as 6 miles, with the extra mile beyond “the pass” according to the sign at the trailhead, but while the extra mile down was beautiful, I think ending at the pass and exploring the petroglyphs makes for a perfect out & back hike!
There’s not much shade on this hike and it’s hot, so make sure you have plenty of water and sunscreen to stay protected from the hot desert sun. The petroglpyhs are very cool, etched into the rock thousands of years ago.
Dogs are allowed on leash!
