This trail is easily a new favorite! Just a mile from beauitful Snowmass Village, it’s a local favorite for good reason. It follows an old irrigation ditch most of the way (hence the name) and is fairly leisurely with only 500 ft. of elevation gain. You cross several ski runs and walk under a couple of lifts, but the real star of the hike is the view of Mt. Daley. These views feel like cheating – I’d expect that type of view to come from a much more difficult hike.

The comments on AllTrails talk about the giant pipe with the mysterious “banging sound” – When we passed the pipe it was just the sound of water sloshing, but heads up so you’re not caught off guard.

Dogs are allowed on leash (and it’s strictly enforced)
