This is one of the most scenic and beautiful trails I’ve done in Colorado and wasn’t too steep or difficult. This loop is just a few minutes from town and features nonstop wildflowers along most of the trail during July. It would also be incredible in the fall with the Aspens.
We chose to do the Upper Loop first and I’m so glad we did, loved the views along the way. Honestly, I may even just turn this into an out & back trail in July because the wildflowers were the best on the Upper trail.
Upper & Lower Crested Butte trail was never too steep with only about 300 ft. in elevation gain. Dogs are allowed on leash & don’t forget to stop and spend a few minutes at Gunsight Bridge.
