I love Chautauqua and it’s a perfect go-to for bringing out of town visitors to marvel at the Flatirons, but that initial climb into the hiking trails can be a real pain. I found a perfect little trail that still has the views, but none of the elevation gain!

Baseline Trail also starts off from the main Chautauqua trailhead so you can avoid a bit of the crowds. The trail starts off of Baseline road, right at the intersection of 6th st. You hike along Baseline road through tall grasses with little elevation gain as you make your way back toward the Gregory Canyon Trailhead where you either turn around or take a left onto Meadow Trail to make it a full loop.

It’s short, easy but still packed with incredible views that’ll impress!

A couple notes: Dogs on leash are allowed and parking is paid on the weekends & holidays

Weekend in Snowmass, Colorado

Weekend in Frisco, Colorado

What Hiking Boots Should I Wear?

What Hiking Boots Should I Wear?

Finding the right pair of hiking boots can be a challenge. Everyone's feet are different so what works well for one person may not for another. I've worn $400 boots that hurt my feet terribly and $30 outlet boots that I wore until there were literal holes. I...

3 Hikes You Must Do In Maui

Weekend in Colorado Springs

I haven't spent any substantial time in Colorado Springs in years, so I was so delighted to take a weekend and totally relax in this very beautiful part of our state. I hadn't explored Garden of the Gods since college but it's as beauitful as ever. However, my very...
