Have you spent a weekend in a Camper Van? This was my first time and it was an absolute blast. We spent the weekend cruising around Maroon Bells in Aspen and Twin Lakes for some epic views. It was so nice having a little hotel on wheels – and our GeoTrek Van was exceptionally nice. We had heat, running water, a shower off the back and a super comfy bed.
What type of van?
It was 2025 Sprinter 144 AWD from GeoTrek, which is a local company based out of Boulder.
How was driving the Camper Van?
I had no experience driving anything that large before and I was super surprised at how easy it was to drive the Camper Van. I was pretty nervous, but it was easy to maneuver and the blind spots would beep if you were looking to change lanes. The part I found most challenging was backing up, but if I’m being honest that’s not my strong suit in a regular car 🙂
How was sleeping in the van?
I was a little nervous about feeling claustrophobic, but was pleasantly surprised it didn’t feel like that at all. The bed was really comfy and there are covers that fit all the windows so no one can see in.
Can you rent the vans?
The vans at GeoTrek are for sale, however they do have a website to rent as well. They sell direct to consumers and not through RV dealerships, you can buy a van directly from GeoTrek.
We had originally wanted to do a bigger hike (Island Lakes is high on the bucket list) but to have one right from our front door and almost no one along the way was definitely the right choice.
